Tesla’s competitor BYD is considering building an electric vehicle plant in Mexico, according to Nikkei Asia.

 

The head of BYD’s Mexican subsidiary told Nikkei that the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer is contemplating the idea of establishing a factory in Mexico. This is seen as a strategic move by the company to create a base for exports to the United States, as overseas production is necessary for a global brand like BYD, according to Country Manager Zhou Zou. Zou mentioned that Mexico has great potential as an important market and expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of opening a plant there.
